Photography of the shining and reflective surface is challenging, especially, the creation of the desirable reflections on the pottery itself. The room setting you used will always includes the images of the window, the curtain, and even the photographer herself, in the reflections of the pottery surface.

The only way to do it properly is to put the pottery piece in a dark shooting room with well-arranged lighting to illuminate only the subject. The camera should shoot from a dark position, thus, the photographer can avoid becoming part of the reflections.

The shape of the lighting source might produce different shapes of the reflections spots on the pottery surface as well.

There are many ways to experiment and to be creative for this kind of photography.
